Yes, there were speeches. In Sweden we love speeches. Not only political speeches. Politicians say they want to ”express their views” and then they do. Noone is capable of stopping them once they have started.
It is a good thing we do not have death penalties in Sweden. Otherwise you could suspect that the hangman’s question ”Do you have any last words?” would end up in a fourteen hours long explication on the legal position concerning frogs and their sexlife.
But then who am I to cast judgement on this? I am not a speaker, I am merely a listener.
